This website chronicles the creation of my cyclotron, a project I chose to learn more about particle physics. We can be reached at [email protected] or [email protected]
Project status as of May 15th, 2018:
It's working! The cyclotron is accelerating protons. See the Results page for more details and measurements
Electromagnet: operational at full strength (0.85T)
Chamber: exterior complete, holding vacuum at 3E-6 torr with all ports blanked off. Dee, RF pickup, and filament complete. TODO: install dummy Dee
Vacuum system: complete, pressure in low 1E-6 torr achieved.
Measurement system: complete, measurement resolution below 0.1 picoamp achieved with beam pickup.
HV RF system: complete, Upgrades: modify 50W power amp to prevent FET failures
Hydrogen delivery: complete
Rack and Cart: complete
